START AN eCONSULT

It may not be necessary for you to attend for an appointment. You can submit details about your condition or your administration request and you will receive a response from the practice usually within 24 hours but you will be advised of the timeframe once you have submitted. We will ask that you contact the surgery on the day you need to see a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner and we will endeavour to give you an appointment time to either be seen, or talk to a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner on the phone.

Booking appointments at our surgery

For Online appointments please use one of the options below:

Routine Appointments

Consultations are by appointment and these can be booked in person, over the phone and by using our online system - Patient access or the NHS patient app.

Urgent on the Day Appointments

We have a Duty Team available everyday for acute problems. Appointments can be booked over the phone or in person. You will be triaged by the team and offered an on the day appointment if needed. Although an appointment time is given this is only a guide and there may be a wait if the doctor has an emergency to deal with.

Medication Reviews

It is important that patients on regular medication attend reviews/blood tests to ensure optimal management of their conditions.

You will no longer need to see your GP automatically for a medication review. Your GP will review your medication list when your review date comes up & ask for appointments to be made with our nursing team for bloods tests & reviews where appropriate. They may ask to see you themselves but not necessarily. Please do book with who we ask you to as this is being done to improve access for patients that need to see the GP.

Once the relevant monitoring has been undertaken & if things are optimally managed then we will move your medication review date on to your next birthday & review things annually from there.

This does not affect your ability to see your GP should you need to, but will hopefully improve the waiting time in the event that you do.

Improving access to general practice: evening and weekend appointments now available

Patients who are registered at this practice can now book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on weekday evenings (after 6.30pm) or at the weekends (on Saturday and Sunday).  Wickham Surgery offers appointments until 7pm on Tuesdays and 8.30am - 12pm on Saturdays.  Other appointments will either take place at Badger Farm Surgery, Botley Health Centre or Andover War Memorial Hospital.  Talk to the practice receptionist to find out more or book an appointment.

Consent to See Medical Students

Wickham Surgery is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Southampton.

Students learn a huge amount from talking to patients and thinking about diagnoses and management. You have a lot to teach them. The student may observe the consultation, lead the consultation while being observed by the GP or talk to you alone and then present your story to the GP.

The students are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as all members of the practice and their code of conduct is set out clearly by the General Medical Council. The student will not be able to make any decision about your care independently. Your problem will always be reviewed by a qualified practitioner.

If you do not want a student present please tell the receptionist, nurse or doctor, we completely respect this decision and the doctor or nurse will be happy to see you alone.

If you are happy to let the student be involved in the consultation please let the doctor know.

Thank you for your cooperation.
